List of the Best Floating Water Mats for 2018:
#1. WOW Sports Inflatable Floating Water Walkway 12-2030
WOW Sports’ water walkway measures 10 x 6 ft, which can fit up to six persons. If you are a bigger group, you can use the connecting zipper system to form bigger walkways. Then, you can tie the mat to a boat using the grommets on each end. The whole mat has vertical I-beams for stability and is made of heavy-duty 30-gauge PVC.
Conclusion: This inflatable floating water walkway is a great product for those wanting to experience more fun on the water without breaking the bank. It is hundreds of dollars cheaper than many other options available on the market, but it is quite stable and very easy to use.
#2. Island Hopper Water Walk Floating Foam Mat
This mat from Island Hopper is made of a three-layer structure comprising XPE foam. Strength is reinforced by an inner core made of mesh, and there is an outer membrane called “Tuff Hide,” which is designed to serve as protection. The entire mat measures 20 ft, which should be sufficient for even large groups of adults and kids. You can prepare it for use easily and quickly because there is very little assembly required.
Conclusion: Island Hopper’s floating foam mat is enormous at 20 ft, so it is a great accessory for large groups of relatives or friends who wish to have a good time without leaving anyone out. There is hardly any setup needed, and the mat is sufficiently strong enough for normal use.
#3. Aqua Lily Maui Mat– Floating Foam Fun Pad
Measuring 6 x 14 ft, this floating mat is around average in terms of size. It can also carry a maximum weight capacity of 1000 lbs. Nonetheless, it manages to remain very light in weight (at 25 lbs) and thus highly portable. The structure features 2-layer cross-linked foam and is endowed with the manufacturer’s patented technology called Flexcore.
Conclusion: The Aqua Lily pad comes in three sizes, which is always an advantage. Its material and construction allow it to stay stable and intact even with a lot of running, standing, or jumping. Furthermore, it is very portable. Our only gripe is that it does not come with grommets on each end.
#4. Noodle Mon ChillRaft Original Floating Matt
The size of Noodle Mon’s floating water mat (6’ x 16’ x 1.5”) deviates a bit from the sizes you commonly see on the market, but it is nonetheless good for both adults and kids. It contains dense closed-cell foam and sports a waffle weave texture, which is meant to improve resistance to damage. Finally, it features UV protection and a patented anchor.
Conclusion: We think this floating mat from Noodle Mon is good given its price. The material itself is durable and strong, and it does serve its purpose well. The seeming issue with the tie line, in our opinion, is minor and can be easily remedied.
#5. Bestways Inflatable Sun Deck
This inflatable sun deck, which measures 15’ x 5’ x 6” (LWH), is made of a combination of rigid drop stitch construction and reinforced PVC, which are meant to improve strength and durability. There are eight D-rings all in all, and these improve usability. The weight capacity is 1047 lbs, which is at par with the weight limit for most other water mats.
Conclusion: This fairly new product is recommended for those who wish to try out mid-range floating mats. We also think this will be beneficial for those who do not have equipment yet for floating mats as this comes with its own kit of essentials.
#6. Big Joe 2050ABW Waterpad – Giant Floating Water Pad
We love the Waterpad because of its heavy weight capacity (about 1500 lbs) and its large surface (15’ x 6’ x 1.2”). These should be sufficient for fairly sizable groups of adults or children. The grommets are ingeniously designed, serving as cup holders at the same time without consuming extra space. This is therefore ideal for an intimate group of grownups chilling with a few beers or kids wanting easy access to their favorite soda while they play. However, the mat’s thickness may fail to provide enough stability when adults move around too much or if their weight is not evenly distributed across the mat.
Conclusion: We recommend this floating mat from Big Joe as a water toy for mostly kids. The weight capacity is sizable and there is enough space for a bunch of adults, but they can mostly just lounge. By contrast, kids can run and jump without having the floating water mat give in.
#7. Fun Float Floating Water Mat
This floating water mat is unique in that it comes with its own head pillow accessories (DIY) and a mooring device. The large one measures 18 x 6 ft, and all variants are made of high-density cell foam. They have stop nylon inner rebar matrix and a banding belt with buckle.
Conclusion: Fun Float’s floating water mat is also better suited for children. Several adults can spend time together on it, but abrupt movements or weight imbalance can cause the mat to become unstable. For the price, this product seems fair in terms of features and capacity.
#8. Big Joe Waterpad/Bean Pool Float
The Bean Pool Float from Big Joe measures 15’ x 6’ and is made of EVA foam. There are 4 cup holders in total, plus a mooring line and Velcro straps. The mat is not very thick, however, and too much movement will result in a lot of water getting onto the surface and/or the mat folding up in certain places.
Conclusion: We love this float from Big Joe mainly because it is ideal for lounging with a couple of drinks. Meanwhile, it is also good for use by children and should hold up well even as they play. However, if you need something that can withstand more than simple lounging by a group of grown occupants, you may have to look for something else.
